A meme stolen from
thisisalie to cover assorted basic Reverie info (though not all is specific to Rev) that characters may notice IC but which isn't always obvious from icons/brackets/etc.!
I. APPEARANCE
πͺ Although the main Pokemon anime art style makes him look younger in some of his icons, he is 22 and an adult! The Generations icons that have this style are the most indicative of how he looks (which is still pretty babyfaced, but not a kid).
πͺ The Pokemon region he is native to is based closely on real-world Hokkaido, so he is Japanese, for all intents and purposes.
πͺ We don't have a canon height or anything, but he is about 175 cm/5'9"ish and has a very average-slender build.
πͺ His stupid pointed hairstyle is something he does deliberately to himself with product and not just how his hair naturally looks without styling. When it's down, it looks like these examples. He usually has it up and will only have it down in situations where he wouldn't have had a chance to restyle it yet, like around Cerberus in the mornings/evenings or in the hot springs/after bathing.
πͺ But the color is natural, mostly so that I don't have to think about maintaining it.
πͺ In Reverie, he doesn't have his Team Galactic uniform and wears normal clothing to the extent that he can get it from the suggestion box or barter for it. He still wears almost exclusively monochrome clothing and tends to look very put together and kind of boring e.g. 1, 2, 3 for something slightly more interesting.
II. REVERIE POSSESSION CHANGES/MONSTER
πͺ In Reverie, Saturn is possessed by Azelf (1, 2)! His physical changes fluctuate depending on certain factors, but they come in five stages:
πͺ The more possessed Saturn looks on any given day, the more his mental/emotional possession traits will also manifest, e.g. increased willpower.
πͺ His possession level only changes overnight/after sleep except in extenuating circumstances. Sometimes using the Red Chain power will cause Azelf to draw back immediately a level or two to rest so that Saturn doesn't suffer a migraine from the strain.
III. BODY LANGUAGE
πͺ His posture is good and he stands with his arms crossed a lot, though he also gestures with his hands quite a bit or puts them on his hips.
πͺ When he's feeling comfortable and controlled, his gesturing is overly casual in a smug kind of way, but it gets more energetic and tense if he's thrown off balance.
πͺ He touches his own face frequently, especially putting his hand on his mouth, but avoids touching his hair at all unless it's down—he doesn't want to have to restyle it.
πͺ The Azelf tails are long in comparison to his body (equivalent to their relative length on Azelf's body, so around 2 meters) and are always slowly moving around in the air behind him. They never drag on the ground or hang limply unless something is wrong. Saturn can control how they move, but he has to concentrate to do so, so he usually doesn't bother, and Azelf is usually the one moving them around.
πͺ They will wrap around other people if he's feeling affectionately towards them, without him noticing. But the muscles in them are weak, so he can't put much pressure into squeezing anyone with them (think only slightly stronger than a cat's tail).
πͺ He is direct about making eye contact unless he's feeling awkward or embarrassed about something.
IV. VERBAL/SPEECH
πͺ Saturn has more than one voice actor because he appears in multiple voiced Pokemon properties, but I go with Generations for his voice too, which you can listen to here.
πͺ He's used to having to command people around and appear intimidating, so he's very good at projecting both volume and confidence despite how light his voice is.
πͺ His speech tends towards verbose and educated, and he can be long-winded, but he will start speaking in choppier and simpler sentences and then inserting filler if he's lost in thought or struggling.
πͺ He makes a conscious effort not to refer to Pokemon-specific terms much in Reverie because he realized early on that no one knows what he's talking about; he refers to what he considers generic categories of creature (e.g. cat vs Glameow) and just calls Pokemon monsters, or creatures, the Legendaries are just gods/deities, etc. He will sometimes slip up in this if he's distracted.
V. ROOM & ROUTINE
πͺ As of Day 34 he's purchased a room upgrade to personalize his space a little and make it more effective. He keeps it neat, though not immaculate.
πͺ He also tries to keep to a pretty standard and consistent daily routine in terms of waking up, getting ready, meal times, and a typical bed time, but he has insomnia from time to time that interferes with this, or something else will come up and throw things off.
πͺ Things he's likely to be doing throughout the day include hanging out in the library or diner, gathering ingredients/cooking in Cerberus, general exploring, training his Pokemon, finding people to talk to, etc. He fills the time however he can.
πͺ He is learning how to play pool in the pool hall and will visit it every day or so for at least a while to practice, but he's still not very good yet.
πͺ Because Azelf is a lake creature (despite not being a Water-type), Saturn is also drawn to bodies of water, and he goes to the hot springs at least once a day, often in the evening right before heading home for the night. If he's particularly bored or stressed he'll go more than once.
πͺ He will also sometimes fall asleep in his bathtub instead of in his bed for this reason.
πͺ Most nights he'll spend a while in the dark in his room talking to his Pokemon before actually falling asleep; he's quiet and self-conscious about this.
VI. POKEMON
π΄ The Azelf possessing his body is the same Azelf from Platinum and also from Legends: Arceus and remembers the events of both of those games. Saturn can't access L:A memories consciously, but can at times feel a sense of something forgotten or deja vu due to that influence.
π΄ It has its Platinum stats and moveset (level 50, etc.) and comes from postgame, but before being caught by Dawn/Lucas.
π΄ Its Nature is Sassy (likes bitter foods and dislikes sweet ones, which slightly affects Saturn's own tastes) and its Characteristic is Mischievous.
π΄ It fully understands human speech and can replicate it telepathically; Saturn only learned the latter on Day 32. It will more often act like it can't talk and will "speak" in body language, cute noises, and telepathic nudging.
π΄ It is always alert and watching from inside Saturn's head, but rarely engages, mostly just laughing at him on rare occasions.
π΄ In nightly dreams, the two of them actually communicate, though Azelf doesn't use human speech on Saturn. Saturn is capable of understanding the general meaning of their communications without words.
π΄ The two of them are genuinely fond of one another by now, even if their relationship involves a lot of exasperation and teasing.
πΈ Toxicroak (recovered on Day 27) has her Platinum stats and moveset from the last time you fight Saturn in the game (level 44).
πΈ Her Nature is Naughty (this is canon; likes spicy food, dislikes bitter food) and her Characteristic is "likes to relax" (also canon if I'm understanding the way these are assigned correctly).
πΈ Toxicroak was Saturn's starter Pokemon as a Croagunk, and he's had her for years now; she is his favorite, which he wasn't shy about making obvious back home.
πΈ Their relationship back home was positive, but not fantastic, as Saturn used to treat all of his Pokemon largely as tools to use for intimidation and little else. It's improved a lot in Reverie, and Saturn does his best to be kind to her and treat her with respect, which she returns—though she's also shameless about mocking him when she feels he deserves it. She sees him as more of an equal than a superior, but she will still obey him in battle without question. Outside of battle is another story.
π¦ Golbat was recovered from the box on Day 45 and evolved into Crobat on Day 46 because Saturn managed to get his shit together and bond with her (and battle her against Toxicroak to level her up, lol).
π¦ Because she leveled up and evolved, she's level 43 instead of 42, and has learned Cross Poison (replacing Poison Fang), but otherwise her moveset is the same as in Platinum.
π¦ Her Nature is Bold (like sour food, dislikes spicy food) and her Characteristic is Good Perseverance.
π¦ Saturn has had Golbat for a quite a while now, though not as long as Toxicroak, and she never evolved because back home he never treated her as a friend; she liked him enough that she kept up the hope that he would for literally years, her friendship level hovering right near the evolution threshold but never crossing it. When he brought her to Reverie and immediately apologized to her for his behavior back home and spoiled her a little, she tipped immediately over the threshold to evolve into Crobat.
π¦ Because of this, she has something of a Pokemon Crush on him, and a rivalry with Toxicroak, who is Saturn's oldest Pokemon and favorite. She takes great joy in her type advantage over her.
πΈπ¦ Saturn has both Pokemon with him at all times, but often keeps them in their Pokeballs outside of Cerberus, unless he needs something. He does let them out to at least get exercise in the gym every day (which he does not do himself, lol).
πΈπ¦ When he does let them out just to chill, he generally only lets one out at a time, except in Cerberus or in the gym.
πΈπ¦ Both Pokemon can understand and react accordingly to human speech, but can't speak. They also can't hear conversations outside when in their Pokeballs.
πΈπ¦ As of Day 45, both Toxicroak and Crobat sleep with Saturn in his bed if he's alone at night.

II. REVERIE POSSESSION CHANGES/MONSTER
πͺ In Reverie, Saturn is possessed by Azelf (1, 2)! His physical changes fluctuate depending on certain factors, but they come in five stages:
- No physical change at all; looks exactly like his icons
- Has two Azelf tails, but no other physical changes
- Has two tails and also yellow eyes and a red jewel on his forehead; this level is the "default" appearance in most threads
- Has all of the above plus blueish skin
- Fully turning into Azelf (usually impossible without game interference)
πͺ The more possessed Saturn looks on any given day, the more his mental/emotional possession traits will also manifest, e.g. increased willpower.
πͺ His possession level only changes overnight/after sleep except in extenuating circumstances. Sometimes using the Red Chain power will cause Azelf to draw back immediately a level or two to rest so that Saturn doesn't suffer a migraine from the strain.
